Another Milestone

I had a PET scan done Tuesday. I returned to see my doctors today. We reviewed the scans and found no trace of MCC. I know the chances of recurrence are always out there but today I'm happy. We set a date for the next PET scan in 2016 and my appointments with my doctors. God blessed me today and I don't take this lightly. Wife and I had barbecue ribs tonight in celebration. My oncologist said I have woody edema of my right arm and I said great, now I don't need a bat to play baseball (LOL). God bless you all!

    Hi, i read your blog. I'm from Chile...
    my father has merkel .
    we knew in August. radiation even not start . many mistakes.
    they will do the chemo .(quimio)
    I've read enough to know that is not very good . What your doctors say about that?
    He is in phase III..

      I've read as much as I can find about MCC. There isn't much more that you can do but follow your doctor's plan, keep yourself as informed as you can about treatments and be firm in your decisions. Because this cancer is so rare you and father may be just as educated or better educated about your treatments as they are. Please join the Merkel Cell Google group. That is the best reference with the best connections for MCC treatment and information that I have found. Best prayers for you and your father. Never give up.
